 Four Wildcats Garner All-CACC Baseball Honors

NEW CASTLE, DE – Jason Rust (Woodbridge HS/Greenwood, DE),  Brian Testa (St. Elizabeth HS/Wilmington, DE), and Joe Matterer (Newark HS/Newark, DE) were awarded first-team All-CACC honors while Kenny McGrady (Rising Sun HS/Rising Sun, MD) received second-team honors. 

Rust, a senior outfielder who led the Wildcats in almost every offensive category, finished the year hitting .359 with 44 runs scored and 58 RBIs.  He led the conference in home runs (19), slugging percentage (.795), was second in total bases (124) and RBIs, and finished third in runs scored and hits (56). 

Testa, a junior utility player, saw time this season at first base, third base, and in the outfield.  He hit .338, scored 42 runs, tallied 40 RBIs, and recorded 81 total bases.  Testa led the Wildcats in doubles (14) and on-base percentage (.468), and was second in home runs (6) and walks (21).

Matterer, a junior right-handed pitcher, led the CACC in wins, as he went 11-1 with a 3.58 ERA.  He notched two complete games, including one shutout.  Matterer's opponents hit only .269 off him, and he walked only 16 in 60.1 innings pitched.

McGrady, a senior left-hander and last year's Pitcher of the Year, finished the year going 3-4 with a 5.42 ERA.  He led the CACC in strikeouts, fanning 79 batters in 78 innings of work. 

The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 10-6 record in the CACC and an overall record of 26-18.  Wilmington enters the upcoming CACC Tournament as the number two seed and host, and will take on third seeded Felician College on Thursday afternoon at 12:00 PM at Wilson Field.
