NEWARK, Del. - - An argument can be made that there are few athletes with a better State of Delaware pedigree than Wilmington University baseball coach Brian August as he has recently been invited to join the 20th induction class of the University of Delaware Athletics Hall of Fame later this fall.

August has run the gamut at all levels in the State of Delaware, growing up in Newark before becoming a standout at St. Mark's High School. He went on to play baseball at the University of Delaware from 1995-97 before getting drafted by the New York Yankees in the 18th round following his junior season.

The 10-person class is highlighted by one of the Blue Hens' most famous alumnus in current National Football League standout quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco, who starred for Delaware in 2006-07. August will also be joined by former Blue Hens Curtis Dickson (men's lacrosse), Jim Fischer (cross country and track & field coach), Mickey Heinecken (three sport athlete, football and men's lacrosse coach), Erica LaBar (field hockey), Ed Maley (football), Tyechia Smith (track & field), Diane Stetina (women's basketball and volleyball), and Colleen Walsh (volleyball) in the 20th induction class.

The members will be honored in an invitation-only ceremony and reception for family and fields as part of Homecoming Weekend festivities on campus on Friday, October 28. The honorees will also be recognized at halftime of the Delaware vs. Towson football game at Delaware Stadium the following afternoon, October 29.
