NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University golf team will hit the links in five separate tournaments prior to hosting the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament to begin the 2016 postseason as head coach Harry Jennings has announced his spring schedule.

The Wildcats will host the CACC Tournament for the first time since the 2009 season, a tournament in which they have won five years in a row. But before the postseason begins the Wildcats will compete in five tournaments along the East Coast.

The 2016 spring season starts in Delaware, as the Wildcats will take part in the Bear Trap Dunes Invitational in Oceanview, Delaware starting on March 18. Hosted by Dowling College, the two-day tournament will be played at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club outside of Bethany Beach.

The Wildcats remain in the area to end the month of March, as they head to the Coach Carpenter Classic hosted by California (Pa.) starting on March 28. The Coach Carpenter Classic will be a two-day tournament at the Crofton Country Club in Crofton, Md.

The lone trip away from the Northeast will once again be to Miami Beach, Fla., as the Wildcats will take on the nation's best at the Buccaneer Invitational in a three-round tournament starting on April 4. The Barry University hosted tournament will be played at the famed Normandy Shores Golf Club.

Wilmington will head to the Mike Bello Invitational starting on April 10 in Baldwinsville, N.Y. The two day tournament hosted by Le Moyne College will be played at the Timber Banks Golf Club.

The final tournament of the regular season is a one-day fling, as the Wildcats will battle in the STAC Spring Invitational hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas on April 18. The team will head to Berlin, Md., to play at the Ocean City Golf Club.

Looking to win an unprecedented sixth straight CACC Championship, the Wildcats will return to their home course in Middletown, Del., starting with the first round on Tuesday, April 19. The two-day tournament will conclude on April 20 with a championship being crowned at Back Creek Golf Course.

The Wildcats look to return to the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament with a strong finish at the CACC Championship, as the Super Regional will begin on May 2. The top five teams from the Super Regional advance to play in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

The 2016 spring season is a NCAA Division II Festival year and much like 2012 where a bulk of the Division II National Championships were played in Louisville, Ky., the 2016 National Championships will be hosted in Denver, Colo., in the middle of May.

The men's golf National Tournament will begin on May 16 at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club hosted by Metro State University.
