Nalik Veasley and Miranda Dudas Earn CACC Player of the Week Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - For the second week in a row, Wilmington University men's basketball's Nalik Veasley has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week, joining bowling's Miranda Dudas as the CACC announced its Weekly Reports on Monday.

Nalik Veasley (Clayton, Del.) protected the paint once again for the men's basketball team in a 1-1 week earning back-to-back CACC Defensive Player of the Week awards. Miranda Dudas (Toms River, N.J.) held her own in one of the most competitive bowling tournaments of the season, earning CACC Rookie of the Week honors.

Veasley pulled in 25 rebounds in two games last week, 19 of them coming on the defensive end. He also denied six more shot attempts last week, adding three assists, and a steal. In the win against Molloy, Veasley pulled in 15 rebounds, 12 coming on the defensive end. He also had three blocks, and four assists, scoring seven points in the home win. The Wildcats then went on the road to regionally ranked Pace, and he grabbed 10 more rebounds, seven of which were on the defensive end. He again blocked three shots in the game. Veasley now leads the CACC in averaging 9.7 rebounds per game and is second in the league in averaging 2.3 blocks per game.

Freshman Miranda Dudas helped the Wildcats to an 18th place finish at the 2023 Hawk Invite, where 19 of the 22 teams in attendance were either ranked or receiving votes in the NTCA Preseason National Poll. Dudas had the best individual match of the weekend for the Wildcats, bowling a 244 against No. 4 North Carolina A&T. She finished with a six-match total pinfall of 1,151 for a 191.83 average, placing 72nd overall. She also bowled a 225 against Merrimack and a 212 against UMES.

Women's basketball's Cha'Nyah Dunston-Mason was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 14 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games last week. Men's Basketball's Taalib Holloman was on the Weekly Honor Roll for the second week in a row as well, and bowling's Eleni Feggulis was mentioned on the Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Wildcats with a 54th place finish at the Hawk Invite.
