AUSTIN, Texas – Senior captain Joe Woodley has become the fourth student-athlete in Wilmington University athletics history and the first men's soccer player to be selected to the CoSIDA Division II Academic All-America Team, earning Second Team honors, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Woodley (Gloucestershire, England) anchored the defense of a team that went 15-6 overall and was selected into the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament as the number six seed. The Wildcats defeated third seeded Adelphi to advance to the NCAA National Tournament Second Round for the third time in program history.

The centerback helped the team to a 0.75 team goals against average heading into the postseason, playing and starting in 20 games this season. He scored his lone collegiate career goal in the final regular season game of the year, putting in a cross from Geoff Velasquez against Georgia Court.

The two-time team captain has helped the Wildcats to nine shutouts this season, six of which came during Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference player. Woodley has led the Wildcats to as high as the number three team in the NSCAA East Regional Rankings and No. 22 in the NSCAA National Poll this season.

In three seasons, Woodley has appeared in 59 matches, making all 59 starts. She has one career goal and has tallied four career assists for a total of six points as a defender. Woodley has been a part of 41 team victories in the three seasons, including two trips to the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament.
