Abdul Chibsah joins the Wilmington University men’s soccer coaching staff in 2014 with an extensive playing and coaching career in the state of Delaware. Chibsah has spent time at the University of Delaware, Goldey-Beacom College, and the Kirkwood Soccer Club.

Chibsah, a native of Ghana, played three seasons at the University of Delaware, helping the team to a CAA Tournament Championship and its first ever NCAA Division I Tournament victory in 2011. The Blue Hens have been nationally recognized since his senior season. He played his freshman season at Carson-Newman, playing an integral role in the team’s run to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Following his collegiate playing career, Chibsah was selected as one of the 106 college players to attend the USLPRO combine in 2011. Although he wasn’t selected by a team in the USL, Chibsah spent a few month in the professional ranks in Sweden.

Once returning to the United States, Chibsah began coaching as a volunteer at Gldey-Beacom. Most recently, Chibsah was the first assistant for the Lightning for the past two seasons.

Chibsah is also a Delaware State coach for the Delaware Olympic Development Program (ODP) since 2012. He currently works as a youth academy coach at Kirkwood Soccer Club and is involved in the boys and girls player developmental program and TopSoccer Program at KSC. He is also Kirkwoods’ webmaster and social media manager for the club.

Chibsah graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Computer Information Systems and currently holds a National “C” Coaching License from the United Stated Soccer Federation.
