Tristyn Stewart Named CACC Softball Player of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - A strong performance to close out the team's Florida Trip helped earn Wilmington University softball junior Tristyn Stewart the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week award, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

In the final three doubleheaders of the team's trip, the Wildcats went 3-3 overall, including a sweep of nationally 18th ranked Saint Leo on the final day. The Wildcats are now 7-8 overall.

Tristyn Stewart (Centreville, Md.) went an incredible 6-for-7 with four stolen bases and three runs scored in the sweep of Saint Leo. She went a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI, a stolen base, and a run scored in a 3-1 game one victory and then finished the doubleheader by going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs scored in game two.

For the week, Stewart went 7-for-19 with five stolen bases and four runs scored. The Wildcats split with Florida Tech, lost to No. 4 Tampa, and then swept No. 18 Saint Leo.

She is hitting .413 for the season with 19 hits and leads the team with 11 runs and is a perfect 14-for-14 on the base paths.

The Wildcats return home and play their first game at Asbury Field in 2024 on Tuesday, hosting No. 15 East Stroudsburg. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1:00 p.m.
