Wilmington Lacrosse Picked to Finished Second in the Newly formed CACC South Division in 2013 Preseason Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team was picked to finish second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division in 2013 as voted on by the conference's eight head coaches.

The 2013 season marks the first season women's lacrosse has been split into divisions since becoming a conference sport in 2009. Dominican College, Georgian Court University, Post University and Nyack College compose the North Division while Holy Family University, Wilmington University, Philadelphia University and Chestnut Hill College make up the South Division.

Last season, the Wildcats finished 9-8 overall under then first year head coach Jackie Trainer, making the CACC Tournament with a 6-6 conference record. The team bowed out in the CACC Semifinals to eventual Tournament Champion Holy Family, 15-10.

The Tigers were picked to win the South Division, but the voting was closer than expecting considers Holy Family has won each of the past two CACC Tournaments. The Tigers picked up three first place votes and 13 points overall, while the Wildcats earned 11 points to finish right on the heels of the top team. Philadelphia, the Tournament's third seed a year ago well all seven teams played in one conference, was voted third in the South Division with nine points. Chestnut Hill picked up the last first place vote and finished fourth in the South with seven points overall.

Georgian Court was voted to finish first in the North Division, picking up three first place votes on its way to 15 points overall. Dominican collected the other first place vote in the North, earning 13 points overall to be selected second. Post earned seven points to finish third while first-year program Nyack earned five points to round out the North Division.

The top two teams from each division advance to the CACC Tournament, which will once again be hosted by Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J.
