Florida Trip; Seven Home Games Highlight 2015 Wilmington Women’s Lacrosse Schedule

Taking a page out of the other spring sports at Wilmington University, fourth year women's lacrosse head coach Jackie Trainer will take her team to Florida, highlighting the release of the 2015 schedule.

The Wildcats will get to showcase their talents to the home fans at the WU Athletics Complex in seven contests, playing a total of 17 games in 2015. With the disbanding of the North and South Divisions in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, the goal is to be one of the top six teams in the CACC to earn a spot in the CACC Tournament at then end of the year.

Nine of the team's 17 games will come against CACC opponents with the addition of Felician making its first showing as a program. The Wildcats will play five of the nine conference games at the WU Athletics Complex.

The season gets underway with a pair of road games at the end of February, starting at Dowling on February 26. Dowling finished the 2014 season ranked 14th in the IWLCA Coaches National Poll. The Wildcats then travel to instate and NCAA Division I foe Delaware State two days later for another nonconference contest.

The Wildcats will head for warmer weather in the beginning of March, starting with a night game at Florida Southern on March 3. Florida Southern finished 10th in the final IWLCA Coaches National Poll in 2014. The Florida trip concluded with a game on March 6 at the University of Tampa.

The first chance to catch the Wildcats in action at the WU Athletics Complex will be on Tuesday, March 10 when they take on East Stroudsburg at 4 p.m. The CACC schedule begins on St. Patrick's Day as the Wildcats take on CACC Tournament Runner-Up Holy Family at home.

The Wildcats also play CACC members Chestnut Hill, Felician, Nyack, and Georgian Court at home throughout the season while heading to Dominican, Post, Philadelphia, and Caldwell to round out the conference slate. The Wildcats also head to Molloy, host Millersville, and head to St. Thomas Aquinas throughout the year to round out the nonconference schedule.

The CACC Tournament begins on Tuesday, April 21 with the quarterfinals between the final four seeds. The CACC Regular Season Champion and second seed receive byes in the first round of the tournament. Georgian Court will host the CACC Tournament Semifinals and Championship with a champion being crowned on Sunday, April 26.
