Head Coach Keith Jones Announces 2015 Wilmington University Cross Country Schedule

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University cross country team has six regular season meets scheduled for the 2015 campaign, all leading to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship and postseason beginning in late October.

The Wildcats have an equal mix of familiar meets and new courses they will run throughout the regular season in 2015.

Head coach Keith Jones, entering his 15th season at the helm of the Wildcats, will once again kick-start the 2015 season with the Wilmington University Cross Country Invite at Carousel Park. The season begins on Saturday, September 5 on the home course of the Wildcats, running in the 15th Annual WUXC Invite.

The team remains in the state of Delaware once again for their next meet, heading up the road to take part in the University of Delaware Invitational #1 at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, Del., on September 12.

After two familiar courses to start the season, the Wildcats head to NCAA Division I University of Virginia for their next competition. The team will compete in the Panorama Farms Invitational in Earlysville, Va., to round out the September schedule.

For the first time since 2012, the Wildcats will compete in the famed Don Cathcart Invitational to start the October calendar. Hosted by Salisbury University, the Wildcats will run at Winter Place Park on October 3.

Another new competition headlines Saturday, October 10, as the Wildcats will prepare themselves for the CACC Championship and possibly the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship by running in the Jack St. Clair Championship on Belmont Plateau at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia.

The 2015 regular season concludes with the Princeton Cross Country Championship in Princeton, N.J. on October 17.

The postseason starts with the CACC Championship on Sunday, October 25, in which the men will look to improve on their second place finish from 2014 while the women look to improve on their fifth place finish last season. The Championship will once again be run on Belmont Plateau at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia.

The Wildcats will use their run in the CACC Championship to help propel them into the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship on Saturday, November 7. The site is still to be determined, with a chance of it being run on Belmont Plateau.

The top three teams from the Regional Championship advance to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championship, which will be hosted by Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Mo., on Saturday, November 21.
