NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Senior outfielder Joe Harbach has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Year to lead a team of seven Wilmington University baseball members on the All-CACC squads, voted on by the leagues head coaches and announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Wilmington finished with the best overall record, 29-16 (.644), for the regular season but needed a win over Philadelphia last Wednesday to earn the number two seed (14-6, .700) in the CACC standings. The win gave Wilmington the first round bye in this week's CACC Tournament.

Harbach outshined the league, leading the conference in nearly all offensive categories. He was joined by teammates BJ Janney, Mike Godwin and Jordan Oncay on the All-CACC First Team. Adam Soley, Jamie Treml and Justin DeLong were also honored, being named to the All-CACC Second Team.

Harbach (Abingdon, Md./Edgewood/Harford CC) led the team and the CACC with a .404 batting average (67-166), hits, 40 RBI's, six triples, 105 total bases, a .498 on-base percentage and a .633 slugging percentage. He was also in the top five in the CACC in doubles (14), home runs (4), hit-by-pitch (15), and sacrifice flies (4). He was also second on the team with 10 stolen bases on the season.

The senior started and played in all 45 games in centerfield for the Wildcats, but one afternoon proved to be a career day for Harbach. The career day at the plate on April 5 against Chestnut Hill started with a 3-for-5 day in game one, a much needed CACC victory for the Wildcats at the time. In his second at-bat of the first inning, he tripled into the gap in right center, scoring the eighth and final run of the inning. In his next at-bat, Harbach lined a ball down the right field line that barely stayed fair as it sailed past the foul pole for a two run shot. He led off the sixth inning with a high fly ball that landed just on the opposite side of the fence in right for his second of the game, making it 11-0.

Game two wasn't any different for Harbach, as he left his best home run shot for his last. Tied at 2-2 in the fourth, he took a 2-2 pitch and hammered it off the top of the scoreboard in right field, giving the Wildcats their final lead of the game. He finished the day 4-for-8 with three home runs, a triple, seven RBI's and three runs scored.

Janney (Elkton, Md./Rising Sun) batted .400 (54-for-135) from the leadoff spot for the Wildcats, after missing the better part of 15 games for the Wildcats early in the season. His batting average was second in the CACC after Harbach, while he hit 27-for-64 (.422) in conference games only to lead the league. He finished with the eighth most hits in the CACC and accumulated nine doubles, two triples, 25 runs scored and 16 RBI's while leading the team with 14 stolen bases. Most importantly, in his 30 starts this season, the team went 21-9. It is the first time in his career Janney has been named an All-CACC selection.

Godwin (Hockessin, Del./A.I. DuPont) earns First Team All-CACC honors for the third consecutive year and fourth overall after being named Honorable Mention as a freshman. The senior started all 45 games, most at catcher but also designated hitter and first base, for the Wildcats and batted .265 (40-for-151). He led the conference in walks (32) and was sixth in home runs (3), seventh in doubles (12) and eighth in RBI's (29). The senior captain was second on the team with 28 runs and third with a .418 on-base percentage.

Oncay (Newark, Del./St. Mark's) earns First Team All-CACC honors for the second year in a row, this year as a relief pitcher. The team's closer, Oncay recorded a conference best nine saves and went 5-0 in 16 appearances this season. He posted a team best 1.61 ERA in 22.1 innings while holding opposing batters to a .173 average. He was on the tail end of three shutouts this year while striking out 27 batters with only eight walks. His stretch of 26 consecutive scoreless appearances and 28 scoreless innings dating back to May 7, 2010 was snapped on April 7 against Post.

Soley (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn/Gloucester CC) earned his first All-CACC honor after finishing third on the team with a .311 average at first base and designated hitter. The senior played in 37 games and finished with 32 hits, 12 doubles and a team-leading five home runs. Soley knocked in 21 RBI and scored 15 runs, finishing with a .573 slugging percentage. He was second in the CACC in home runs and slugging percentage while finishing seventh in doubles. 

Treml (Bear, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) has been the Wildcats number one starting pitcher all season, earning his second consecutive Second Team All-CACC honors. Last season's CACC Rookie of the Year, Treml went 4-2 with a 2.17 ERA in 16 appearances this season, making a team high nine starts. He tossed 62.1 innings while finishing second in the CACC with 74 strikeouts. He struck out a season high 10 batters twice, first against UMass-Lowell and again against Concordia.

DeLong (New Castle, Del./Delcastle)tied for the league lead with seven wins, earning his first All-CACC selection of his career. The sophomore went 7-2 in 11 appearances with a 2.84 ERA and 57 innings pitched. DeLong finished second on the team and fifth in the CACC with 60 strikeouts while only allowing 18 walks. The lefty is second to Oncay by allowing batters to only hit .205 against him. Four of his wins came in CACC contests.  

University of the Science's Dan McMahon was voted as the CACC Pitcher of the Year while Nyack's John Kennedy earned CACC Rookie of the Year. Nyack's head coach Matt Cornacchione was voted as the CACC Coach of the Year and Philadelphia earned the Team Sportsmanship Award as the other major award winners.

The Wildcats return to action on Thursday in the double-elimination portion of the CACC Tournament at Wilson Field. Wilmington awaits the winner of the Caldwell/Dominican game being played Tuesday at Dominican starting at 3 p.m. The game on Thursday is scheduled to start at 3 p.m., following the first game of the day at 12:00 p.m. The Wildcats are looking to win their second consecutive CACC Tournament Championship and earn the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Division II East Regional.
