Jamie Treml and Sam Goines Pick Up Capital One Academic All-District I Baseball Honors

NEWARK, Del. - - A pair of outstanding Wilmington University baseball student-athletes had their combined efforts in the classroom and on the diamond recognized earlier this week as Jamie Treml and Sam Goines were named on the 2014 CoSIDA Academic All-District I Team.

The 2-014 Capital One Academic All-District Baseball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Treml (Newark, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) is having an outstanding comeback season on the mound for the Wildcats (32-7-1 overall, 17-3 CACC), leading the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with an 8-0 record and a 0.79 ERA.

Continuing to come bounce back from an arm injury suffered last year, the junior has 47 strikeouts in only 34 innings of work, striking out 11 batters in each of his past two starts. His eight wins have come in only nine appearances on the year, making five starts.

In the classroom, Treml carries a 3.70 grade point average as a business management major at Wilmington University. He has also been a three-time Wilmington Academic All-Star through his career.

Goines (Wilmington, Del./AI DuPont) is coming on strong down the stretch for the Wildcats, hitting .323 heading into the CACC Tournament, leading the team with 40 RBI on the year. Of his 43 hits, eight have gone for doubles, two triples, and three home runs. Two of his home runs have gone for grand slams on the season.

The junior's 40 RBI are second in the CACC while his 27 runs scored are ninth in the conference. He is carrying a .424 on-base percentage, ranking him fourth in the conference while his 17 stolen bases is tops on the team and sixth in the CACC.

In the classroom, Goines carries a 3.80 grade point average as a business finance major at Wilmington University. In his second year at Wilmington he was named a Wilmington Academic All-Star as well.

First-Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team All0America Honorees will be selected later this month.
