Wilmington Baseball’s Brooks Ryan Named CACC Co-Player and Rookie of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Freshman Brooks Ryan has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Co-Player and Rookie of the Week after leading the Wildcats to a 4-2 week.

Ryan played in five of the six games, batting .500 for the week while slugging .944. He collected a hit in all five games, including multiple hits in three of the games. Ryan had two homers and triple, totaling nine hits on the week.

The freshman's best game came in the opener of the CACC doubleheader at Nyack, going 3-for-5 with a homer, two RBI, and three runs scored. He backed that up with another hit in the nightcap, a triple, in a 1-for-5 game with two runs scored. He started the week off with a 2-for-3 game with a homer, two RBI, and a run scored in the first game at Caldwell. He added a 2-for-4 performance in game to at Caldwell as well.

Fellow classmate Julian Kurych was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after helping the Wildcats with seven RBI and six runs scored. He hit .417 in all six games, hitting four doubles for the week.
