NEW CASTLE, Del. - - The Wilmington University baseball team heard its name called to participate in the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament on Sunday night for the 10th time in program history but learned it will host one side of the bracket for the first time in its NCAA era.
The Wildcats (31-11), who won their ninth Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday and earned the league's automatic qualifier into the Regionals, will welcome the East's No. 1 seed Southern New Hampshire (41-9), and No. 5 seed Southern Connecticut State (30-13-1) to Wilson Field this week. The Wildcats earned the No. 4 seed in the double-elimination tournament.
Tickets to the NCAA East Regional Tournament will be $10 per day for adults, and $5 per day for students and senior citizens. All ticket sales will be sold onsite.
Molloy earned the right to host the other side of the bracket featuring the No. 2 Lions, No. 3 Adelphi, No. 6 Franklin Pierce, and No. 7 Le Moyne.
The winner from each bracket will advance to a best-of-three series Super Regional to determine who will represent the East at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Cary, North Carolina.
