Wilmington Goalkeeper Frank Hall Named CACC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Leading his team to a 2-1 week, Wilmington University sophomore goalkeeper Frank Hall was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, highlighting a group of individuals mentioned in their respective sports weekly reports.

Hall (Newark, Del./Newark) appeared in all three games for the Wildcats, making a pair of starts against No. 3 LIU Post and Bridgeport. While playing 180 minutes, the sophomore did not allow a goal, making nine saves during his time. He went 1-0 through the week, but led the Wildcats to a 2-1 overall record.

In the week's first game, Hall came in after the halftime break and recorded a save to help the team keep the shutout and earn the 3-0 victory. Make a start against third ranked LIU Post, Hall did not allow a goal and made three stops before turning over the cage to a teammate in the second half. Earning the start once again for the Bridgeport game, the sophomore made five saves while not allowing a goal, picking up the win and first lone shutout as a Wildcat.

For the season, Hall has not allowed a goal in over 215 minutes, making 10 saves to rank 10th in the CACC. He is also second in the CACC with two wins, and third with one shutout.

Teammate Elton Joe (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor) was also named on the men's soccer report, picking up his second straight Weekly Honor Roll recognition of the season. Joe extended his point to all four games with a goal and two assists this past week. He scored a goal against Felician and added an assist against both LIU Post and Bridgeport.

Also around the CACC, senior middle hitter Katie Shorter (Pasadena, Md./Broadneck) was named to the volleyball Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Wildcats to a 3-2 overall record last week. The 6-3 middle collected a team high 13 blocks in 16 sets last week, earning five solo blocks and eight block assists. She had a week's high five blocks against CACC foe Chestnut Hill, picking up one solo and four block assists.

On the cross country course, Richie Mitten (Bear, Del./Delaware Military Academy) helped lead the men's cross country team to a Division II & III victory at the University of Delaware Invite at the White Clay Creek State Park on Saturday. Mitten was named to the Men's Honor Roll after earning medalist honors among all Division II & III programs and 14th overall with a course personal record of 26:42 in the 8K.

Junior goalkeeper Julia Brown (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) rounds out the Wilmington recognition in this week's reports, as she was named to the women's soccer Weekly Honor Roll for her part in leading the team to a 1-1 week. The junior recorded six saves on the week while only allowing one goal in over 188 minutes. She made a pair of saves in recording her first shutout as a Wildcat with a 1-0 win over Felician. She is second in the CACC with a 0.97 goals against average on the season.
