Three Wilmington Men’s Soccer Standouts Selected to 2015 CCA All-East Region First Team

NEWARK, Del. - - Three Wilmington University men's soccer standouts were selected to the 2015 Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA) All-East Region First Team on Monday, as voted on by the region's sports information directors.

Seniors Lance Berry, Clifford Nwechefom, and Adrian Tash were all selected to the Region's First Team, and now have the opportunity to be nominated for All-American.

Berry (Bear, Del.) turned it on late in the season, finishing atop the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference leaderboard with 14 assists, setting a Wilmington single season program record. He was also third in the CACC with 15 goals, finishing atop the conference with 44 points.

The senior forward scored two goals in three of the last five games of the season, starting with two goals and two assists at Georgian Court. He followed that up with two more goals against Goldey-Beacom in the CACC Tournament Quarterfinal before finishing his scoring with two goals and two assists in the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament First Round game against Adelphi.

Nwechefom (Port Harcourt, Nigeria) was named the CACC Player of the Year after leading the conference with 18 goals this season. He also added four assists and was leading the CACC in points until Berry's late season charge. Nwechefom finished with 40 points on the year. His 18 goals rank second all-time for a single season in program history.

The midfielder scored a season's high three goals against Goldey-Beacom on October 20. Nwechefom scored multiple goals four goals this season, finding the back of the net in 13 games this season.

Tash (Toronto, Ontario) was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Year, starting in 19 games as an outside back. The athletic and speedy back routinely got mixed into the offensive side of the ball, getting into the backfield with speed on the outside. He finished with four assists on the year while also continuing to mark the opposing team's top forwards.

The senior defender assisted on goals in his first two games of the game before adding assists against Caldwell on Homecoming and at Georgian Court in the regular season finale.

LIU Post's Per Forgaard was named the 2015 Division II CCA East Region Player of the Year after leading his team to NCAA Division II Championship Tournament Elite 8. He led the East Coast Conference with 13 goals, 13 assists, and 39 points.

The All-Region First Team honorees are automatically placed in the All-American pool, which will be released later this month.
