Tenicia Spence Named to 2015-16 CACC Women’s Basketball All-Conference Third Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has announced the 2015-16 Women's Basketball All-Conference teams and senior guard Tenicia Spence has been voted Third Team All-CACC by the league's 14 head coaches.

It is the third time in Spence's (Baltimore, Md./Western) career that she has earned All-Conference, being named Honorable Mention as a freshman and Second Team as a sophomore.

The senior guard led the team and finished sixth in the CACC in averaging 15.0 points per game. She also finished seventh in the conference in hitting 55 three-pointers on the year, hitting 37.9 percent from deep. She connected on 41.7 percent of her three-pointers against CACC opponents, ranking fifth in the CACC. She also finished sixth in the CACC with 63 steals on the year.

Spence finished in double figures in 20 games this season, including scoring 20 or more points eight times. She finished her career with 20 or more points in her final three games, averaging 21.6 points per game in her final five games overall. She scored a season high 29 points on January 9 at Caldwell, shooting 10-for-14 from the floor, including 5-of-8 from beyond the three-point arc. She set a new career best and sank the second most three-pointers in a game in program history by going 7-for-11 from deep against Holy Family in the season finale.

Spence collected a season high five rebounds twice this year, first at USciences on December 2 before grabbing five against Georgian Court on January 20. She had a season high four assists in five games as well. Spence also picked up a season high six steals in a pair of games this year, first at West Virginia Wesleyan on November 28 and at Holy Family on January 16.

The guard leaves the program as the second leading scoring in team history, scoring 1,789 career points, averaging 16.6 points per game. Her 194 career steals tops the program's all-time ranks while her 149 career assists rank her seventh.

Bloomfield's Tianna Smith and Philadelphia's Bria Young tied for the CACC Player of the Year award while Young also brought home the CACC Defensive Player of the Year award. Chestnut Hill's Jaeda Wildgoose was named the CACC Rookie of the Year while Bloomfield's coach, David Caputo, was named the CACC Coach of the Year. Georgian Court earned the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award.
