Wilmington in Second After Day 1 at Own Wildcat DII-DIII Invite

WILMINGTON, Del. - - The Wilmington University bowling team sits in second place after five Baker matches on day one of the Wildcat DII-DIII Invite on Friday at Bowlerama.

The Wildcats went 2-2 but sit in second with a 4,498 total pinfall after five matches. Nationally ranked No. 14 Mercyhurst leads the tournament with a total pinfall of 4,594. Chestnut Hill is third with a total pinfall of 4,421.

The Wildcats bowled against the bye in their opening game but had the second-best round among the 11 teams with a 900. The team face off against first-year program Holy Family and won, 852-555, but then lost to D'Youville, 921-850. The Wildcats had their best showing of the day with a 986-879 victory over Daemen, and had another good showing in a loss to Kutztown, 920-910, to round out the first day.

On Saturday, the Wildcats will face St. Thomas Aquinas, Bloomfield, Chestnut Hill, #14 Mercyhurst, and Molloy in traditional matches.
