NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team won its sixth straight contest on Saturday, defeating Felician, 18-4, in a lightning-shortened game for Senior Day at the WU Athletics Complex.

The game was called for lightning in the area with 7:00 left in the fourth quarter. NCAA Division II rules dictate a game is considered complete following three quarters of play.

With her third goal of the game, senior Maddie Day became the program's all-time leading goal scorer, surpassing La'Dae Boykin's mark of 179 career goals set from 2015-18. Day finished with four goals and now carries 181 career goals into the final three games of the regular season.

The Wildcats scored all seven goals that were posted in the first quarter, as Ella Royer and Maddie Day each scored twice in the quarter. The Wildcats went on to score the first five goals of the second quarter, taking a 12-0 lead with 9:29 to play in the half. Makenzie Stritzinger scored twice in the second quarter.

The record-breaking goal came late in the second quarter, as the Wildcats stopped a clear attempt by the Golden Falcons. Ella Baynes scooped up the ground ball and found Maddie Day alone in front of the net. She beat the goalkeeper for her 180th career goal, setting the new program mark.

Alea Javorowsky scored a pair of third quarter goals for the Wildcats as the Wildcats led 178-1 with 6:07 to play in the third. Amelie Gamache scored the final goal of the third quarter, sending the Wildcats into the final frame leading 18-2.

Felician scored a pair of goals in the 4th quarter, but then lightning was detected in the area, forcing the game to stop with 7:00 minutes remaining.

Makenzie Stritzinger led with five points, scoring three goals, and adding two assists and five draws. Amelie Gamache also had five points, scoring two goals while adding three assists and four draws. Maddie Day scored four goals while Ella Royer added two goals and two assists. Ella Baynes and Alea Javorowsky chipped in with two goals an assist each.

The Wildcats set their sights to Jefferson on Wednesday in a key Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game. The open draw at Ravenhill Field is set for 4:00 p.m.
