Jimena Garcia Risoto Earns Women’s Soccer Second Ever All-American Honor as D2CCA Announces Teams

NEWARK, Del. - - For just the second time in program history, the Wilmington University women's soccer team placed a student-athlete on an All-American team, as junior Jimena Garcia Risoto was voted Second Team Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-American by the division's sports information directors.

Jimena Garcia Risoto (Madrid, Spain) joins Begum Malali as the only Wildcats to earn All-American status in program history, becoming the first since Malali was a First Team Daktronics (now D2CCA) All-American in 2007.

Garcia Risoto came on strong down the stretch for the Wildcats, scoring 25 points in the final 10 games of the year. She scored 11 goals in the final month of play, including a stretch of eight goals in five games, scoring a hat trick in the CACC Tournament Semifinals against Georgian Court. Her 13 goals are tops in the CACC and second in the East Region overall. She also has accumulated 31 points, ranking second in the CACC and third overall in the East Region.

Her 13 goals this year rank sixth most in a single season for the Wildcats and the most since Loran Wyrough scored 17 in 2017. Garcia Risoto's 31 points are tied for eighth most in a single season in program history, matching the efforts of Colby Bugda in 2004 and Chelsea Grace again in 2012.
