Four Wildcats Pick Up CACC Player of the Week Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University Wildcats earned four Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week spanning three sports in leading their teams to impressive weeks.

On the pitch, the women's soccer team were led by the CACC Defensive Player of the Week Brianna Wons and the Goalkeeper of the Week Mio Nakajima, while the men also had the CACC Defensive Player of the Week in Max Norden. Logan Brown earned the first CACC Bowler of the Week award of the season after leading the Wildcats at the Bud Whitman Memorial.

Brianna Won (Cherry Hill, N.J.) led the Wildcats to a 2-0 week, defeating St. Thomas Aquinas, 5-0, and Bridgeport, 2-1. She scored off long free kicks in each contest while holding the opposing teams to just one goal as a centerback. She scored the fifth goal of a 5-0 victory at St. Thomas Aquinas and then scored the first goal of a 2-1 victory against Bridgeport from 35 yards out. She has four goals and two assists on the season.

Mio Nakajima (Osaka, Japan) made 10 saves in the 2-0 week for the women's soccer team, allowing only one goal. She made four saves at St. Thomas Aquinas for the shutout and then made six saves in a 2-1 CACC win against Bridgeport, the first victory against the Purple Knights in program history. She has a 0.88 GAA on the year while making 53 saves.

Max Norden (Bremerhaven, Germany) collected three assists from his left back position, helping the team to a 1-0-1 week. He dished out two assists while helping his team to a 4-1 victory at No. 24 Mercy, and then also assisted on a goal in a 2-2 tie against Bridgeport on Saturday. He now has five assists on the season.

Logan Brown (Waldorf, Md.) carried the team to a third-place finish at the Bud Whitman Memorial, being named the CACC Bowler of the Week in the first Report of the season. She earned All-Tournament Team accolades after finishing second overall on Saturday in five traditional matches. She averaged a 211.80 in the five matches.  Her 1,059 is tied for the fifth best individual showing in a five-game traditional series in program history. She started out with a 251 against Molloy and then followed that up with a 188 against the bye, a 210 against Chestnut Hill, a 224 against #23 Delaware State, and finished with a 186 against Felician.
