NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's soccer team heads into postseason play ranked No. 7 in the latest official NCAA Division II East Region Poll, with hopes of being one of the seven teams announced during the Selection Show on November 13.

The Wildcats wrapped up the regular season yesterday with a 3-0 victory at Goldey-Beacom. They enter the postseason with an 11-2-4 overall record, going 8-1-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and earning the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Tournament.

The Wildcats are ranked No. 7 in the first numbers ranking of the season. There is one more ranking next Wednesday before the NCAA Selection Show on November 13. The committee will take the winner from the NE10 Tournament, the ECC Tournament, and the CACC Tournament, and then four other at-large bids to make up the field of seven for this year's tournament.

Nationally ranked No. 1 Saint Rose tops the list this week in the East, followed by Adelphi, Southern New Hampshire, and CACC foes Jefferson. Saint Anselm is ranked No. 5 followed by Roberts Wesleyan, Wilmington, Franklin Pierce, and American International.

According to the coaches in the region, the Wildcats are the fourth best team after last week, moving up two spots to No. 4 in this week's United Soccer Coaches East Region Poll. The top three teams are the same as the NCAA poll with Saint Rose, Adelphi, and Southern New Hampshire ahead of the Wildcats.

The Wildcats host either Chestnut Hill or Bridgeport in the First Round of the CACC Tournament on Sunday. The opening whistle is set for 1:00 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.
