Women’s Soccer Still Alive for NCAA Tournament; Ranked No. 5 in Final East Region Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - Despite falling in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament First Round on Sunday, the Wilmington University women's soccer team still find itself alive and well to make the NCAA Tournament, moving up two spots to No. 5 in the final ranking before the NCAA Selection Show.

The Wildcats went 9-0-2 over their final 11 regular season games, allowing them to jump up two spots in this week's official NCAA poll to No. 5. They leapfrogged Saint Anselm and Roberts Wesleyan this week. Wednesday's poll is the final ranking before the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m.

The top four teams remained the same in this week's ranking, led by Saint Rose at the top. Adelphi remains at No. 2 followed by Southern New Hampshire and Jefferson who stayed the same as well.

Wilmington is at No. 5 followed by Franklin Pierce, Saint Anselm, Roberts Wesleyan, and Molloy in this week's poll.

Seven teams make the NCAA East Regional Tournament which will be hosted at two sites from November 16-19. Three teams from the East will earn automatic qualification into the NCAA Tournament by virtue of winning their conference tournament, with four other teams earning an at-large bid.

The Wildcats are looking to be one of those four at-large selections on Monday night.
