Defending CACC Tournament Champions Picked Third in 2019 CACC Women’s Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Coming off its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship, the Wilmington University women's tennis team was picked third in the 2019 CACC Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

In just their third season as a program, the Wildcats tied for the top spot in the CACC Regular Season with a 7-1 record, but earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament due to tiebreakers. The Wildcats went on to win the CACC Tournament Championship with a 4-0 sweep of Concordia, earning the league's automatic bid into the NCAA East Regional Tournament. The Wildcats went 10-9 overall last season.

Goldey-Beacom advanced to the NCAA National Tournament last year and earned six of the league's 10 first place votes to sit atop the poll with 96 points. Concordia earned three first place votes and 84 total points for second followed by the Wildcats' earning the final first place vote and 78 total points for third.

Jefferson and Post tied for fourth overall with 56 points each while USciences rounds out the expected CACC Tournament participants in sixth place with 55 points.

Chestnut Hill (46 points), first year program Dominican (31 points), Holy Family (28 points), and Caldwell (20 points) round out the rest of the 10 teams in the CACC.

The year, the Wildcats are under the direction of first year head coach Troy Donato and begin play with the ITA East Regional Tournament at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center the weekend of September 13.
