    For the first time in program history, the Wilmington University softball team earned the No. 1 seed in the East Region and will host its third Regional Tournament at Asbury Field as the NCAA announced its field for the 2024 NCAA Division II Softball Championship.

Taylor Gillis went 4-for-4 with a double and three runs scored while Tristyn Stewart went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two stolen bases. Gabriella Saucedo batted 2-for-3 with two RBI while Sam Freeland and Julia Thuer added two hits each as well. Sara Miller set the program record with her 23rd homer, a three-run bomb in the second inning. She went 3-for-3 with 4 RBI, a triple shy of the cycle. Sam Freeland went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI as well. Delani Sheehan improved to 15-7 with 3 strikeouts in the 5-inning complete game. Wildcats advance to the winner's bracket of the CACC Tournament.

It is the second year in a row the Wildcats have clinched the No. 1 seed for the CACC Tournament and now at least a share of the CACC Regular Season Championship. The Wildcats need to win one of their final four CACC games to claim the Regular Season outright for the second year in a row. Arianna Millan went 3-for-3 while Taylor Gillis went 2-for-4 with a double. Sam Freeland went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the opener. Downin threw a complete game with 9 strikeouts in game one. Kylee Gunkel came on in relief and pitched four scoreless innings, not allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts. She improved to 16-4 on the year with the win in relief. Leadoff hitter Tristyn Stewart was the catalyst for the offense in game one, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored. She set up the first run in the bottom of the first and scored again in the bottom of the fifth. The Wildcats trailed 3-1 and 4-3 in the nightcap but fought back in the home half of each inning the Lions scored.     It didn't come easy, but No. 22 ranked #WilmUSoftball set a new program record with a CACC sweep over Holy Family, 10-3 and 8-6, at Asbury Field on Friday, extending the winning streak to 14 consecutive games. The two wins bring the Wildcats to 21-10 overall, 8-0 in CACC play. The 14-game winning streak bests the 13-straight games the 2012 team won. Sara Miller and Haley Downin each hit a two-run home run in the opening game as the Wildcats scored at least one run in each of the first five innings. Sara Miller had three hits in game while Saucedo went 2-for-2 with a triple and a double, leading the team with three RBI. Stewart and Gillis also had two hits in the nightcap.     Two more dominating performances in the circle stretched the 23rd ranked #WilmUSoftball's win streak to 12 straight with a 4-0 and 3-1 sweep over Pace on Tuesday at Asbury Field. Pace, an East Region Tournament participant a season ago, could only muster seven hits in the doubleheader as Kylee Gunkel and Delani Sheehan remained locked in on the rubber. Tristyn Stewart went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases in the opening game while Haley Downin hit a 2-run homer. Six different Wildcats had hits in the nightcap, with Sara Miller leading the way with two RBI. A sacrifice fly would end the Wildcats' scoreless streak at 34 consecutive innings, but the Wildcats still held onto a 3-1 lead.
