NEWARK, Del. - - The No. 22 Wilmington University softball team restarted a winning streak on Wednesday, sweeping Georgian Court, 8-0 (6 inn) and 12-2 (5 inn), a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Asbury Field.

The Wildcats (28-11, 12-0 CACC) picked up 10 hits in game one and 11 more in game two, sweeping the regular season doubleheader from the Lions (12-16, 4-4 CACC) for the third year in a row.

GAME 1:
The Wildcats picked up 10 hits in the opener as Kylee Gunkel was tough once again in improving to 13-4 on the year with another complete game shutout. She only allowed three hits and two walks while striking out four.

Taylor Gillis started the scoring for the Wildcats in the bottom of the first, hitting a two-out, two-run single through the right side to get the Wildcats going.

The Wildcats loaded the bases in the fourth, but all they could muster was one run on a walk by Emma Zimmerman before the Lions induced a foul out and an infield popup to end the inning with the Wildcats leading 3-0.

Sara Miller chased Gabriella Saucedo home from first in the fifth inning before Taylor Gillis collected her third RBI of the game with another single. Julia Thuer hit a two-out RBI single back up the middle as well, plating Gillis and the 6-0 lead.

Trisytn Stewart started the bottom of the sixth before an error and two stolen bases put the Wildcats on second and third with no outs. Gabrielle Saucedo then pulled a ball and kept inside the third base bag, resulting in a two-run, walk-off double.

Atylor Gillis went 3-for-3 with three RBI while Stewart had two hits.

GAME 2:
The hot bats were brought over into the nightcap, as the Wildcats jumped out on the Lions with four runs in the first and five more in the second.

Tristyn Stewart and Lexi Moore singled to lead off the first and Sara Miller got the scoring started with an RBI single. Taylor Gillis then roped one into the corner in right, plating two more as she stood on third with a triple. Sam Freeland then hit an RBI groundout and the Wildcats were up 4-0.

The Wildcat defense turned a double play to end the top of the second and the offense provided five more runs on five hits.

The Wildcats loaded the bases with one out in the second. Saucedo hit a two-run double to left center followed by a two-run single back up the middle by Sara Miller. Sam Freeland added another RBI with a single, and the Wildcats found themselves leading 9-0.

Delani Sheehan's only hiccup in the circle came in the top of the third, allowing a two-out, two-run single to put the Lions on the board.

With two outs and two on in the bottom of the fifth, Alexa Eisemann ended the game with a three-run homer to left, making her first hit as a Wildcat a walk-off blast.

Sheehan went all five while allowing two runs on four hits and a walk. She improved to 13-5 on the year to tie Gunkel with the most wins in the CACC.

Lexi Moore and Sara Miller each had two hits in the nightcap while Eisemann and Miller led with three RBI. Saucedo, Gillis, and Freeland all finished with two RBI in the game as well.
