NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Wilmington University baseball team swept Nyack in back-to-back shutouts, 3-0 and 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Wilson Field in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference cross division matchup.

Game One:

Redshirt senior Sean Deely struck out five of the first seven batters against Nyack, while getting out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh inning to help secure the 3-0 shutout over the Warriors.

It was a quick first five innings, as neither team could get a run up on the board, until the bottom of the sixth for the Wildcats. With two outs, Dakota Graham scored on a single to center from Eddie Nevins, and Brock Nowell got around third and scored on an error from the second baseman on the play to give WilmU a 2-0 lead heading into the top of the seventh inning.

Deely would walk the first two batters in the top of the seventh, before getting the first batter out on a fielder's choice. The Warriors would then single to right field to load the bases with only one out, but Deely would strike out the next two batters to get out of the inning. In the bottom half of the inning, Julian Kurych hit a double to left center, before Frank Nigro followed him with another double to the same side to score Kurych and give Wilmington a 3- 0 lead.

Zach Frederick and Dan Hyatt would come in the final two innings to complete the save and shutout. Sean Deely went 7.0 IP, allowing four hits, three walks, while striking out 10 batters. Frederick and Hyatt would strikeout two, and Hyatt would get the save.

Eddie Nevins went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Brooks Ryan, Max Carney, Julian Kurych and Frank Nigro (one RBI) would all have doubles in the contest.

Game Two:

With another dominant pitching effort in game two for the Wildcats (27-15, 16-10 CACC), Kyle Maxwell only allowed two hits and three walks, with eight strikeouts for the complete game shutout against Nyack.

WilmU would get things going in the bottom of the second, as Eddie Nevins started the inning off with a double to left center. Max Carney would reach first and advance Nevins to third on a bunt single to third base, before Julian Kurych would load it up with a walk. Now with two outs, Brett Nowell would come through with a single through the right side, scoring Nevins and Carney to take an early 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, Nevins would make it a 3-0 ballgame on a solo shot out to left center. Julian Kurych would follow Nevins' homerun with his own in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-0. With two outs, Dakota Graham would knock in the final run of the game with a single to left, scoring Dan Hyatt.

Despite the two hits and three walks in the contest, Maxwell would have three, one-two-three innings.

Eddie Nevins and Max Carney went 2-for-3 for the Wildcats. Nevins had one double, one homerun, and one RBI. Brett Nowell went 1-for-2 with two RBI, as Julian Kurych and Dakota Graham had one RBI apiece.
