QUECHEE, Vt. - - The Wilmington University golf team placed a pair of student-athletes in the top five at the Quechee Division II Challenge, as senior Miguel Siercke earned a share of the medalist honors to open the 2016-17 season at the Quechee Club on Tuesday.

Siercke tied with Bentley's Cal Meyers with a 142 (-2) two round score to earn top billing at the tournament while senior Sam Clark finished tied for fourth overall with a 72-72, 144 (E) in the two-day tournament.

The five Wildcats in attendance were playing as individuals at the tournament, but if they were playing as a team, the Wildcats would have won the Quechee Division II Challenge with a 288-299 score. The team's 587 (+11) would have been one shot better than Bentley for the lowest combined score for the tournament.

Newcomer Zac Moore was the third Wildcat in the Top 10 of the individual scores, finishing tied for ninth overall with a 73-75 for a 148 (+4). Freddy Braun closed out the first tournament of the year with a 75-78, totaling a 153 (+9) and sitting in a tie for 25th overall. Freshman Jack Dixon moved up five spots on the leaderboard from his first round, finishing in a tie for 36th overall with a 78-79 for a 157 (+13) in his first collegiate tournament.

The Wildcats are back in action on October when they will either travel to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., for the GolfRanks Invitational or to Watertown, Conn., for the Post University Eagle Invitational.
