
WASHINGTON, Pa. - - The Wilmington University golf team finished second at the 2025 Vulcan Fire Classic hosted by California (Pa.) on Lone Pine CC this week, shooting rounds of 323-303 for a 626 (+50).
Hosts California (Pa.) won the tournament with a 613 (+37), with their 'B' team finishing third overall with a 627 (+51), just a stroke behind the Wildcats.
Three Wildcats all finished in a tie for seventh overall. Pablo Quintero improved his second round by eight strokes while Noah Wallace and Sacha Brown improved their rounds by six strokes to all finish the tournament with a 154 (+10).
Pablo Quintero shot an 81 (+10) on Monday with only one birdie but then improved by eight shots to shoot a 73 (+1) on Tuesday. He collected six birdies in Round 2, shooting one-over on the back nine with four birdies.
Noah Wallace shot an 80 (+10) on Monday with three birdies but then came back with a 74 +2) on Tuesday. He posted three more birdies in the second round, adding 10 pars to his round.
Sacha Brown shot a 154 (+10) on Monday as well but then came back with a 74 (+2) on Tuesday. He shot par on all nine holes on the front on Tuesday and finished with 13 pars in the round. He had two birdies on the back nine as well.
Josh Freeman finished in a tie for 26th overall identical rounds of 82-82 for a 164 (+20). Freeman collected three birdies in the first round and two more in the second round.
Blake Ramirez closed out the Wildcat scoring in a tie for 47th overall, shooting rounds of 89-85 for a 174 (+30). He finished with two birdies on the back nine in Round 2.
Millersville's Timothy Peters won the Vulcan Fire Classic with rounds of 75-69 for a 144 (E).
The Wildcats play much closer to home in their next tournament, as they head to West Chester to compete in the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational starting on Monday, April 7. They will compete at the Penn Oaks Country Club in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
