
NEWARK, Del. - - The NCAA has announced the field of 80 teams and 32 student-athletes competing as individuals that have been selected to participate in regional competition of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships. Regional play will be conducted May 8-10.
The Wilmington University golf team will make its way back to Whispering Woods Golf Club in Erie, Pennsylvania, qualifying fourth out of 10 East Region teams. The 10 teams from and the East and 10 teams from the Atlantic will compete in the Super Regions hosted by Gannon University.
This is the 14th appearance for the Wildcats in the Super Regional Tournament, all since their first appearance in 2009.
The Wildcats will be looking to be one of the top three teams in the Super Regional in order to advance to the NCAA DII Men's Golf Championships at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
According to Scoreboard Powered by Clippd, the Wildcats are the third ranked team in the East Region, carrying a 303.7 adjusted scoring average. They have won three tournaments this season, first at the Franklin Pierce Men's Fall Invite, and then near the end of the spring season at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational and the Penmen Spring Invite in back-to-back weekends.
The other three Super Regional Tournament will consist of the Central and Midwest Regions competing at the St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Missouri; The South and Southeast Regions competing at the Mission Resort + Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida; and the South Central and West Regions competing at the Victoria Club in Riverside, California.
The Wildcats will head to Erie, Pennsylvania, for the practice round on Wednesday, May 7, with the three-day, three-round tournament beginning on Thursday, May 8.
