NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Impressive shooting numbers have led to a pair of freshmen earning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Wilmington University men's basketball newcomers Tre Hawkins (Waldorf, Md.) and Jaylin Horsey (Wilmington, Del.) have been named the CACC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for their performances in two games last week.

Tre Hawkins led the team in rebounding in the two games, averaging a double-double for the week with 20 points per game and 10 rebounds a contest. He also added four assists and two steals while shooting 71.4 percent from the floor for the week. He had a double-double by halftime against Georgian Court, finishing with 17 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 7-for-11 (63.6 percent) from the floor. He also dished out three assists and had two steals in the win over the Lions. He then scored 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting (80.0 percent) at Goldey-Beacom, grabbing seven rebounds as well. He also went 10-for-15 from the foul line for the week, including 7-of-10 at Goldey-Beacom.

Jaylin Horsey led the team in scoring 23 points per game last week, shooting 12-of-19 from the floor (63.2 percent), including an impressive 10-of-14 from deep (71.4 percent). He scored 27 points in the win over Georgian Court, shooting 7-of-11 from three-point territory while adding three rebounds and a steal. He then went 4-of-5 from the floor, including a perfect 3-for-3 from deep, at Goldey-Beacom, adding 8-of-9 from the foul line, for a total of 19 points in 14 minutes. Overall, he scored 46 points in 38 minutes in two games last week.

It is the first time Tre Hawkins has been named the CACC Player of the Week, but the second time earning a Weekly Award this year, being named the CACC Rookie of the Week on November 26. It is the second time Horsey had earned the CACC Rookie of the Week honor, adding to his selection on November 11.

The Wildcats are back in action on Tuesday night as they host Pace at the WU Athletics Complex. The opening tip is set for 7:00 p.m. in Newark.
