
NEWARK, Del. - - Five standouts from the Wilmington University men's soccer team add to their 2019 resume, as they were named All-East Region as the United Soccer Coaches has announced the first round of their postseason awards.
Lorne Bickley (St. Helier, Jersey), Joe Bell (Epsom, England), Shawn Genus (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica), and Gabriel Prgomet (Melbourne, Australia) were all named First Team All-Region while Abdul Mansaray (London, England) was named Third Team All-Region, as voted by the region's head coaches.
All five also received D2CCA All-Region honors earlier this month and now can add the United Soccer Coaches All-Region honor to their names.
Lorne Bickley set program and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference single season records with 26 goals and 55 points, and continues to lead the country in goals and points. He was named the CACC Player of the Year, First Team All-CACC, D2CCA East Region Player of the Year, and First Team D2CCA All-Region.
Joe Bell anchored the back line for the Wildcats, and got in the mix on the offensive side of the field as well. He scored eight goals while adding two assists for 18 points. He also helped a defense to a 1.08 goals against average on the year, allowing 23 goals in 21 games. Bell was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-CACC, and First Team D2CCA All-Region.
Shawn Genus finished third on the team with 34 points, ranking third in the country with 12 assists. He scored 11 goals while adding his team leading 12 assists in his first season with the Wildcats. He was also named First Team All-CACC and First Team D2CCA All-Region.
Gabriel Prgomet earns his first First Team All-Region honor of the season after being named Second Team D2CCA All-Region. He started all 21 games in goal for the Wildcats, making 60 saves while finishing the year with a 1.09 goals against average. He also finished with a .723 save percentage on the year. He was named the CACC Goalkeeper of the Year and was First Team All-CACC.
Abdul Mansaray rounds out the Wildcats on the 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-Region Teams, earning a spot on the Third Team. He finished second on the team with 42 points, ranking 17th in NCAA Division II with 17 goals, while adding eight assists. He is fifth in the country with his 42 points on the year. He was a First Team All-CACC member and a Second Team D2CCA All-Region selection.
The Wildcats led the teams with four first teamers while the CACC placed nine student-athletes on the three teams.
