NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Wilmington University men's soccer star Lorne Bickley on Thursday was named the 2019-20 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Bickley will now move on for regional and national consideration for the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award presented by the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). Nominating and voting for the conference award was conducted by the league's 14 sports information directors.

Bickley's award is the latest in a string of major honors for the redshirt junior from St. Helier, Jersey. Bickley notched a school and CACC single-season record 26 goals in 2019, in helping to guide the Wildcats to the CACC Regular Season Championship and an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament.

He was named the CACC Player of Year for his brilliant play in early November, and then just a couple weeks later took home the D2CCA East Region Player-of-the-Year accolade. The awards did not end there, as in early December he was named the best in the nation as Bickley received the D2CCA National Player of the Year. Bickley was a D2CCA First-Team All-American and a Second-Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches.

In the classroom, Bickley owns a 3.50 cumulative grade point average in his major of sport management. He was named to the CACC Men's Soccer All-Academic Team back in the fall, while also earning CoSIDA Second-Team Academic All-America honors.

Bickley will now move on for consideration for the D2CCA East Region Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Voting for the regional award will be conducted by the 23 Division II Conference Commissioners throughout the nation. The announcement for the regional award will be made later this summer. If Bickley were to receive that award, he would then be one of eight finalists for the national award, which would be announced in late summer/early fall.
