
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The pitching from Holy Family's Molly Moore and Kinsley Hall shut down the Wilmington University softball team in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader sweep, 4-2 (8 inn.) and 2-0) on Wednesday afternoon at Bensalem High School.
It is the first time the Wildcats (23-15, 12-4 CACC) have been swept in a CACC doubleheader since April 6, 2022, against USciences at Asbury Field.
GAME 1:
A two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth gave the Tigers a 4-2 walk-off victory in the opener.
Holy Family scored a leadoff double in the bottom of the first with a two-out single for the early 1-0 lead. A leadoff triple scored in the third as well, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats put two on with two outs in the fourth but couldn't score. They put runners on second and third with one out in the fifth. A runner was thrown out at the plate on a grounder for the second out, but then they got on the board as Tristyn Stewart stole second. The throw from the catcher went to third and got away, allowing Kylee Saienni to score. Sydney Hatch then hit a two-out RBI single to center to tie the game, 2-2.
The Wildcats left runners on in the sixth and seventh innings, and had a runner caught trying to steal in the top of the eighth. An error put a Tiger on with one out in the eighth and then a two-run homer to left center ended it, 4-2.
Eve Serrato and Delani Sheehan had two hits each while Bella Barnes hit a double. Kylee Gunkel was the tough luck loser, striking out six while allowing four runs, three earned on six hits. She is now 10-6 on the year.
GAME 2:
The Tigers struck early again in the nightcap, scoring singles runs in the first and second innings. The wildcats left seven runners on in game two, collecting five hits.
A two-out RBI double down the right field line gave the Tigers the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Another two-out RBI double in the bottom of the second gave the Tigers an early 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats left two on in the first and two on in the fourth. After a one out walk was left stranded in the fifth, the final eight Wildcats were set down to end the game.
Sydney Hatch and Gracie Mabry had two hits each for the Wildcats while Emma Zimmerman came up with the other base knock. Delani Sheehan fell to 8-7 on the year while Karen Sickle and Olivia Hitchen each thew a scoreless inning of relief with two punchouts each.

The Wildcats are on the road again this weekend, traveling to Bloomfield on Saturday to take on the Bears. The first pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
