
NEWARK, Del. - - A pair of school records fell as the Wilmington University track and field teams competed at the Delaware Invitational on Friday, hosted by the University of Delaware on the track at Stuart & Suzanna Grant Stadium.
Tyler Levons and Sytieia Brown rewrote the record books on Friday, setting new school records at the meet. In his 2025 debut, Levons became the fastest man in program history in the 100-meter event while Brown broke another school throws record, this time in the hammer.
Tyler Levons (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) broke the mark set by Taf Bunu in 2023, running to a fourth-place finish on Friday with a time of 10.66. He finished behind Goldey-Beacom's Devon Napier's 10.53 run and Holy Family's Javon Bowen's time of 10.65.
Sytieia Brown (Baltimore, Md.) shattered the hammer throw mark of 42.57 meters set by Viviana Caamano at the 2023 CACC Championship, finishing with a day's best of 50.03 meters to finish third overall. The first-place throw came from a Blue Hen, as Brown was just off the pace of a 51.87m throw to win the contest.
Other notable finishes on Friday included Bostwick Patten's personal record of 49.96 in the 400-meter race, winning his heat and finishing seventh overall. TJ Taiwo placed sixth overall in the 110-meter hurdles, setting a new personal record with a time of 15.02 seconds, just 0.03 seconds from tying the school record. The 4x400-meter relay team of Levons, Taiwo, Patten, and Donte Dockery race to a second-place finish, just 0.25 seconds off the record with a time of 3:19.35.
In the field, Donte Dockery finished third in the long jump with a distance of 6.79 meters while Rob Powell placed fourth overall with a jump of 6.64 meters. Christian Dollard finished fourth hammer and discus, finishing with a personal record of 45.65 meters in the hammer. Sam Distler placed fifth overall in the shot put with a distance of 13.65 meters. Braeden Peterson finished fourth overall in the javelin as well, finishing with a distance of 38.66 meters.
On the women's side, Sammy Banning set a new personal mark of 5:18.42 in the 1500-meter event, finishing fifth overall. Amy Chomo finished ninth overall in the 800-meter with a time of 2:27.75. Eliza Hildreth ran the 100 and 200-meter events on Friday, running to a 14th place finish in the 100 with a 12.89 and 18th in the 200-meter race with 26.65 seconds.
In the field, Temi Mustapha finished ninth overall in the long jump with a distance of 4.90 meters. Brown also placed third in the shot put event, with a day's best 11.71 meter toss. Jada Obegi finished eighth overall in the hammer as well, with her third attempt producing a distance of 39.27 meters.
The Wildcats travel to Mount Olive, North Carolina for their next meet, competing in the Trojan Relays hosted by the University of Mount Olive. The two-day event begins Friday, April 11.
