NEWARK, Del. - - Felician went wire-to-wire over the Wilmington University women's basketball team, 71-47, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference cross-divisional contest on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

Felician (7-10, 4-6 CACC) shot 46 percent from the floor for the game and hit seven three-pointers while the Wildcats (2-17, 1-8 CACC) shot 32.6 percent from the floor and only 2-for-4 from distance.

After the Golden Falcons scored the first 10 points of the game, the Wildcats got buckets from Fatou Ndao and Jade Roberts for a 6-0 run of their own. Amber Washington hit a three-pointer to close the gap to 16-11, but Felician closed the quarter with an old fashioned three-point play to lead 19-11 after one quarter.

Felician used a 6-0 run to take a 29-13 lead and then the teams traded baskets the rest of the way with the Golden Falcons taking a 34-19 lead into the halftime break.

Felician started the third quarter on a 9-3 run, taking a 43-22 lead with 2:59 to play in the quarter. And the Wildcats made five free throws the rest of the way as the Golden Falcons won the quarter, 15-8, to take a 49-27 lead into the fourth quarter.

The visitors took their largest lead of the game with a pair of free throws, 59-29, before Fatou Ndao scored back-to-back layups and Jade Roberts hit a jumper for a shirt 6-0 run for the Wildcats. Skylar Parris made a long jumper and if it wasn't for a three-pointer on Felician's final possession, the Wildcats would have won the fourth quarter, but Felician took the fourth as well, 22-20.

The Golden Falcons were able to turn 27 Wilmington turnovers into 18 points at the other and controlled the paint, outscoring the Wildcats, 34-16, in the lane.

Amber Washington went 2-for-2 from three-point land and led the Wildcats with 16 points, adding eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Fatou Ndao scored 15 points while shooting 4-for-8 from the floor and 7-for-8 from the free throw line, adding seven rebounds. Daja Claiborne led the team with nine rebounds.

The Wildcats are home again on Tuesday night when they welcome Chestnut Hill to the WU Athletics Complex. The women start the CACC doubleheader at 6:00 p.m.
