
ROCKAWAY, N.J. - - In the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Meet of the season, the Wilmington University bowling team finished in a tie for second place, going 7-3 while leading in total pinfall at Rockaway Lanes, hosted by Caldwell University.
The win-loss records determine the seeding for the CACC Tournament during the two CACC Meets throughout the regular season. Felician went 8-2 this weekend while Caldwell and Wilmington tied for second with 7-3 records. The Wildcats led in total pinfall this weekend, knocking down 8,935 total for a 178.7 per game average in the 10 games.
During Saturday's traditional matches, the Wildcats went 4-1 overall, defeating Chestnut Hill, Dominican, Holy Family, and Caldwell, but falling to Felician. During Sunday's Baker matches, the Wildcats went 3-2 overall, defeating Chestnut Hill, Holy Family, and Dominican, but falling to Felician and Caldwell.
The Wildcats were led by Sydney Jones' fifth place finish during the traditional matches on Saturday, bowling a 923 total pinfall for a 184.60 average. She bowled a day's best 212 in the final match of the day, a victory over Caldwell. She also bowled a 206 to open the day against Chestnut Hill.
Logan Brown placed seventh overall with a 909 total pinfall, averaging 181.80 per game. She had two games of 200 or more on Saturday, finishing with her day's best 225 against Caldwell. She also bowled a 213 against Dominican.
Genna Closs was right behind Brown in eighth place on Saturday, finishing with a 904 total pinfall for a 180.80 average. She bowled a day's best 225 against Felician.
Miranda Dudas made it three Wildcats in the Top 10 with a ninth place finish, bowling an 891 for a 178.20 average. She had a 201 against Chestnut Hill to start the afternoon.
Abigail Crumb rounded out the Wildcats with a 15th place finish on Saturday, bowling an 835 total pinfall with a 167.00 average. She bowled a day's best 195 against Dominican.
Caldwell's Alex Sardis was the only student-athlete over 1,000 total pinfall on Saturday, bowling a 1,041 for a 208.20 average for tournament medalist honors.
The Wildcats have one more tournament before the holiday break, competing at the New Jersey Open starting on Friday, November 22. They head to Howell Lanes in Howell, New Jersey for the three-day tournament.
