Women’s Lacrosse Places Five on 2023 CACC All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Sixty-six (66) student-athletes on Thursday were named to the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Lacrosse All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. All 11 CACC schools that compete in the sport were represented on the All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for CACC All-Academic status, a student-athlete must: a) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of immediate preceding term (may include summer for fall sport participants); b) Minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) Student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution.

The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team placed five student-athletes on the 2023 CACC Women's Lacrosse All-Academic Team, led by three-time honoree Marissa Swanson. The Wildcats also have a trio of two-time honorees in Jenna Banks, Lauren Gresham, and Katie Vindigni. Madison Trzaska rounds out the Wildcats on this year's list, making the team in her first year of eligibility.

CACC finalist Thomas Jefferson University led the way with 11 honorees making the squad, while University of Bridgeport, CACC Champion Dominican University and Holy Family University were next with 8 student-athletes achieving academic status.

The six CACC schools that advanced to the conference postseason combined to have 46 honorees make the women's lacrosse All-Academic Team.

NOTES ON ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

  • Five student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages (Dominican's Rebecca Nutting and Sydney Strohmayer, Post University's Morgan Cassiliano, Cara DiStefano and Molly Dobratz).
  • Seventeen (17) student-athletes notched GPAs of 3.90 or higher.
  • Dominican's Rebecca Nutting, Jefferson's Melanie Goldstein and Lilly Kull, and Cassiliano were named to the CACC Academic squad for the fourth time in their respective careers.
  • Seventeen (17) were named to the CACC WLAX All-Academic Team for the third time in their respective careers.
  • Fifteen (15) were named to the unit for the second time in their respective careers.
