Wildcats Win All Nine Matches in 7-0 Victory Over Goldey-Beacom

WILMINGTON, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team won all nine matches in blanking Goldey-Beacom, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Delcastle Tennis Center.

With the win, the Wildcats remain unbeaten in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play, running their record to 3-0 overall and 3-0 in the CACC. It is the team's ninth straight conference victory dating back to last season.

The duo of Marley Trifunovic and Valentina Ivankovic started the winning with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. Playing in their first match at No. 1 doubles, Fenna Swaan and Carmelle Vial gave the doubles point to the Wildcats with a 6-1 victory. Neus Ramos Moreno and Jess Purdy completed the clean sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.

All six singles were won in straight sets by the Wildcats, as Larize Nel gave the Wildcats their second point with a 6-1 and 6-1 win at No. 5 singles. Carmelle Vial extended her hot collegiate start with a 6-0 and 6-1 victory at No. 2 and then Marley Trifunovic secured the team victory with a 6-2 and 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.

Fenna Swaan kept the shutout intact with a 6-1 and 7-5 win at No. 6 singles before Neus Ramos Moreno won at No. 1 singles, 6-1 and 6-4. Valentina Ivankovic finished the bagel with a win at No. 3 singles, 6-3 and 6-3.

The Wildcats will once again play at the Delcastle Tennis Center on Saturday, this time as the home team, when they welcome Dominican to town for another CACC contest. The first serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
