PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The Wilmington University volleyball team jumped out in front early but couldn't hold on late as Philadelphia won the final three sets to win the match, 3-1, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division action on Tuesday night in the Gallagher Center.

Set scores for the match were 26-24, 19-25, 20-25, and 23-25.

The Wildcats (8-15, 5-9 CACC) were in every set with the momentum shift not coming until around the 20-point mark. The first place Rams (19-4, 11-1 CACC) closed out the second set on a 5-0 run, the third set on a 3-1 run, and the fourth set on a 6-0 run to earn the comeback victory.

With the Wildcats leading 22-18 in the first set, the Rams battled back to tie the match at 22-22. Deja Stanek regained the lead for the Wildcats with a kill before the Wildcats had set point on a Ram error. But the Rams again battled back, scoring back-to-back points to tie the set at 24. A Ram service error gave the Wildcats the ball and set point before the visitors took the opening game, 26-24, on another Ram attack error.

The Wildcats led the second set, 15-14, before the Rams made their move. The home team went on a 4-0 run to take an 18-15 lead before Allison Briley closed the gap to 18-17 with a kill. Another kill by Briley brought the Wildcats to within 20-19, but the Rams then went on a 5-0 run to even the match, 1-1.

With the Wildcats leading, 14-10, in the third set, the Rams used a 9-1 run to gain a 19-15 lead. Briley and Jill Braunsberg put down back-to-back kills to close to within 21-19, but the Rams retaliated with back-to-back points of their own to gain a 23-19 lead. The Wildcats could only get back to within 23-20 before the Rams closed out the set.

A 4-0 run early in the fourth set gave the Wildcats a 12-7 lead, capped by a Miranda Shaw service ace. With the Wildcats still leading 18-14, the Rams turned in three straight points to get to within 18-17. Harris put down a kill before Rebecca Rawlinson and Briley combined for a block and a 20-17 lead. Briley then followed up a kill with an ace to give the Wildcats a 23-19 lead. But the Rams fought back and earned three straight kills before a Wilmington timeout. A Wildcat ball handling error tied the set, 23-23, before a Ram kill and a Wildcat error ended the set, 25-23, and the match, 3-1.

Briley ended with 11 kills and a team high 24 digs, collecting 14 points on the night. Braunsberg put down six kills while adding 12 assists and 14 digs for the double-double. Stanek collected five kills while Harris ended with eight kills and a .350 attack percentage. Shaw dished out 16 assists while adding nine digs while Jenna Brown chipped in with 19 digs. Brianna Cunha finished with 19 digs on the back row as well.

The Wildcats remain on the road for their next CACC contest on Friday night. They head to Holy Family for a South Division contest with the first serve slated for 7:00 p.m.
