Lincoln (Pa.) Spoils Women’s Basketball’s 2024-25 Home Debut, 86-45

NEWARK, Del. - - A big second quarter allowed Lincoln University to pull away from the Wilmington University women's basketball on Wednesday night, earning an 86-45 victory at the WU Athletics Complex in the 2024-25 home debut.

The Lions (1-2) used a 27-12 second quarter to pull away from the Wildcats (0-3), hitting three three-pointers and shooting 62.5 percent from the floor in the stanza. Wilmington turned the ball over 33 times on Wednesday night, leading to 43 points at the other end for the Lions.

Lincoln University used an 8-0 run to take a 10-2 lead in the first quarter before Jasmine McDuffie hit her first three-pointer of the game with 39 seconds left in the frame. Emma Brown put in a layup to make it 13-7 early in the second quarter, but then the Lions went on a 12-0 run to lead. 25-7, with 4:52 to play in the half. Armani Bell-Jackson made back-to-back three-pointers, and a McDuffie free throw made it a 7-0 run for the Wildcats, but the Lions answered right back with an 8-0 run of their own to open a 33-14 lead. They led 38-17 going into the break.

The Wildcats didn't score for the first 4:12 of the third quarter as Lincoln extended its lead out to 53-17. They went on to win the third quarter, 24-11, and the fourth quarter, 24-17, to win the game, 86-45.

Jasmine McDuffie led the Wildcats with a double-double, scoring 10 points while grabbing 13 rebounds and adding three assists and two steals. Emma Brown led the Wildcats with 11 points, adding nine rebounds to narrowly miss a double-double of her own. Armani Bell-Jackson came off the bench to score eight points while Aniyah Bond had seven points.

The Wildcats take to the road for their next contest, plat at West Chester on Monday night. The opening tip is set for 6:00 p.m. in Hollinger Field House.
