PRINCETON, N.J. - - For the second meet in a row, sophomore Jesus Amezquita led the Wilmington University cross country teams, this time at the Princeton Cross Country Invitational on Saturday afternoon at West Windsor Field.

In a field of mainly NCAA Division I competition, Amezquita paced the men's team to a 21st place finish out of 30 teams, while the women placed 25th out of 25 programs.

Amezquita (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) finished in 65th among a field of 272 participants, finishing the 8K course in 25:07. Junior Richie Mitten was the only other Wildcat to finish under 100, coming in at 93rd overall with a time of 25:17.

All five scorers for the men's team finished in the 25 minute mark however, as junior Tyler Muse placed 123rd overall with a time of 25:40. Freshman Ken Fontal was the fourth finisher for the Wildcats, placing 147th overall with a time of 25:57. Following closely behind Fontal was graduate student Mike O'Brian who place 149th overall with a time of 25:58 to close out the Wilmington score. Overall, the team scored 577 points.

The women's team was led by graduate student Tijen Ozcan who placed 154th out of 206 participants in the 6K, crossing the line in a time of 25:58. Senior SaraBeth Oppermann collected 157 points for the Wildcats with a time of 26:14. Morgan Ferrick was the third Wildcat finisher, coming in 159th overall with a time of 26:50.

Penelope Fantis placed 166th overall as the team's fourth finisher, cross the finish line in 28:45 for the Wildcats. Freshman Jordan Swain rounded out the Wilmington scoring with a time of 30:11 in the 6K, crossing the line in 167th overall.

Lehigh's Tyler Mueller paced the field in the men's competition, finishing the 8K in a time of 23:36, 14 second ahead of the next collegiate finisher. Villanova took home the team crown, collecting 23 points with having the second, third, fourth, fifth, and ninth place finishers.

Sacred Heart's Brianna Castrogivan was the top finisher on the women's side, finishing the 6K with a time of 21:25 to beat the field by two seconds. Duquesne won the women's team title on Saturday, picking up 47 points with the second, fourth, eighth, 16th, and 17th place finishers.

Wilmington has eight days to prepare for its next meet, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship on Sunday, October 27, at Belmont Plateau in Fairmont Park in Philadelphia, Pa. The men are the defending champions while the women will look to improve upon its fifth place finish a year ago.
