NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After finishing in first place this past weekend, the Wilmington University men's cross country team earned their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week this year, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Graduate student Will Rehrig earned this week's CACC Rookie of the Week for the first time in his career. The first year Wildcat finished 11th out of 160 runners in the 8K with a time of 28:22.1. He was the fourth Wildcat to cross the finish line and the fifth CACC runner. Rehrig helped the Wildcats to a first place finish out of 17 collegiate teams, earning 46 points at the Jack St. Clair Memorial that was held at the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pa.
Teammate Garrett Checchi earned a spot on this week's honor roll, as he finished second with a time of 27:22.8. On the woman's side, freshman Annabel Cortez also earned a spot on this week's honor roll after she crossed the finish line first out of the lady Wildcats, finishing in 19th place with a time of 25:58.0 to help the women finish sixth overall out of 12 collegiate teams.
