Danny Walsh Concludes Career by Earning Third Team All-CACC Status

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Graduate student Danny Walsh's second have tear was noticed by the 13 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference head coaches as he was voted to the 2021-22 All-CACC Third Team, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Danny Walsh (Bear, Del./William Penn) becomes the 18th Wildcat to be named All-CACC, being one of the 15 student-athletes among the 13 teams to earn a spot on All-CACC this season.

For the season, Walsh finished second on the team and 16th in the CACC in scoring 14.3 points per game. He also led the team and finished eighth in the CACC in dishing out 87 assists (3.1 per game) on the season. He shot 45.5 percent from the floor for the year, hitting 45-of-128 from three point land and fourth in the CACC in shooting 87.5 percent from the foul line for the year (70-of-80).

In his final 14 games of the year however, he has led the team in scoring 19.3 points per game, shooting 50.5 percent from the floor including 28-of-70 from beyond the arc and 50-of-57 from the foul line. Walsh also averaged 2.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game over that span, collecting 17 steals and four blocks as well.

Danny Walsh had a career high 29 points on 12-of-17 shooting (4-of-6 from deep) at Felician on February 7. He finished the year scoring 20 or more points in even games, scoring double digits in 19 of the 28 games. He secured six rebounds against Lock Haven and a season's best six assists in three different games.

Walsh leaves the program as the fifth leading scorer all time with 1,264 career points and the only player to ever hit more than 200 career three-pointers, finishing with 209 made triples. He is the all-time leader with 115 games played and 93 starts.

Post's Devonte McCall, who scored 24 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and added three blocks in the CACC Tournament First Round game against the Wildcats Tuesday night, was voted the CACC Player and CACC Defensive Player of the Year. His coach Marc Kuntz was voted the Coach of the Year while Thomas Jefferson's Erik Timko was voted the CACC Rookie of the Year.
