Nalik Veasley Named CACC Defensive Player of the Week for Men’s Basketball

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Nalik Veasley was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, helping the Wilmington University men's basketball team to a 1-1 mark last week.

The junior center averaged 11 rebounds per game last week, with 8.0 per game coming on the defensive end. He averaged a double-double last week, scoring 12.5 points per game as well. He was also the rim protector, swatting away six shots in the week.

Nalik Veasley (Clayton, Del.) played over 40 minutes of the overtime affair at Shippensburg on Wednesday, scoring 14 points while adding 15 rebounds, three blocks, and two assists. He shot 5-of-13 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the foul line for his 14 points.

In the team's 2023-24 home debut on Sunday, Veasley scored 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting, adding 5-of-6 from the foul line as well. He also grabbed seven rebounds, six defensive, while adding three more blocks and a steal in the victory against West Chester.

Post's Bol Akot was named the CACC Men's Basketball Player of the Week while Bloomfield's Starrell Hearns was named the Rookie of the Week.

Taalib Holloman was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Wildcats in scoring 20.5 points per game. He scored 20 points at Shippensburg and added 21 more in the win against West Chester. He also shot 55.6 percent from the floor for the week.
