Softball’s Rosa’Lynn Burton Named to 2020 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player & Pitcher of the Year “Watch List”

NEWARK, Del. – Wilmington University softball senior outfielder Rosa'Lynn Burton was named to the 2020 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player & Pitcher of the Year "Watch List" amid the upcoming 2020 season.

The senior was one of 50 student-athletes across the country to be selected as a "Watch List" contender for the upcoming season, along with being one of 27 returning NFCA All-Americans.

Burton (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) was named First Team NFCA All-America last season after finishing a record-breaking year for the Wildcats. Along with being named First Team, she earned Second Team D2CCA All-America, Second Team Fastpitch News All-American and was awarded the 2019 New Balance/NFCA Golden Shoe Award.

In her junior season, Burton broke the all-time record for hits in a season with 91, as well as the record for stolen bases, going a perfect 60-60 on the year. The left fielder hit .517 on the season, also breaking the all-time record, while recording a .543 on base percentage.

Heading into her final season, she currently holds the all-time record for runs in a career with 174; hits in a career with 266; triples in a career with 19; batting average in a career, hitting .483; total bases in a career with 349; slugging percentage in a career of .633; and stolen bases in a career with 147.

Burton was one of two players to represent the East Region, as senior pitcher Morgan Perry also earned the nod from St. Anselm.

Burton and the Wildcats will begin their reign as CACC Champions down in Florida, beginning Sunday, March 1.
