NYACK, N.Y. - - The Wilmington University volleyball team got back to its winning ways by defeating Nyack College on Friday night, earning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory, 3-1, on the road in Bowman Gym.
Set scores for the match were 16-25, 25-19, 25-22, and 25-20.
The Wildcats (6-10, 2-4 CACC) out hit the Warriors (3-14, 3-3 CACC) by a percentage of .156 to .098 to take the match. The Warriors were led by Kyra Zuhlke 10 kills and a .267 percentage and Abbey Lawson who also added 10 kills for a .346 kill percentage. Rachel Medin recorded a game high 31 assists on the night for the Warriors
Jill Braunsberg's triple double, which included 10 kills, 10 assists, and 16 digs, all came with on a .250 kill percentage. Brittany Ford led the attack with 11 kills, adding 13 digs for the Cats.
Miranda Shaw added a team high 22 assists to go along with 10 digs for the double-double. Rebecca Rawlinson defended the net with two solo blocks and six block assists to give her a team high five total blocks. The Wildcats out-blocked the Warriors, 8-2, as a team for the match. Addalyn Flores also added a team high 19 digs on the night for the Cats.
The victory snapped a three-match losing streak for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats will play two games tomorrow as they travel to Southern Connecticut State to take on NYIT at 1:00 p.m. and the host Owls at 3:00 p.m.
