NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the fifth time in his career and for a second consecutive year, Keith Jones was named the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year for the Wilmington University men's cross country team, as announced by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara.
Jones has also won Coach of the Year for the men in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2017, which is conducted by the leagues 14 Directors of Athletic Communication. He was named CACC Coach of the Year on the women's side in 2009.
In five out of the last seven years, Jones' team has won the CACC Championship, including this year's Championship that was held on October 28 at the Belmont Plateau in Fairmount Park. The men also finished first in four out of their seven meets this season. Jones had two runners named CACC Players of the Year, including senior Mark Corrigan who was named CACC Runner of the Year, and freshman Garrett Checchi who earned CACC Rookie of the Year.
For the ninth time in the last 10 years, the Wildcats will head to the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship on Saturday, November 17 at Beth Page State Park in Beth Page, New York. WilmU was ranked as high as seventh and most recently ninth in the USTFCCCA East Regional Rankings.
