Five Wildcats Earn CACC Player of the Week Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Another week of spring sports and another five student-athletes were named on their respective sports Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Reports, earning CACC Players of the Week.

This week, the Wildcats had two baseball student-athletes in Quintin Ivy (Co-Player of the Week) and Ryan Sandberg (Pitcher of the Week) be named while women's lacrosse had two student-athletes for the second week in a row with Campbell Hell (Rookie of the Week) and Katie Vindigni (Goalkeeper of the Week). Softball placed one student-athlete on the reports as Lexi Moore was named the CACC Player of the Week as well.

Quintin Ivy (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) went 6-for-14 in leading the Wildcats to a 4-0 weekend in Wilson, North Carolina. Five of his six hits went for extra bases, as he hit three homers, a triple, and a double, bringing in a team leading seven RBI. He slugged 1.286 for the week, reaching base 50 percent of his plate appearances. His week started by going 2-for-4 with two homers, knocking in three and scoring three against Fairmont State. He had a triple and game-winning solo homer in the top of the ninth of a 2-1 win against Bloomsburg. Ivy ended the weekend with two RBI against Bloomsburg on Saturday.

Ryan Sandberg (Island Park, N.Y./West Hempstead) earned the CACC Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row. He pitched seven innings against Fairmont State, opening the weekend with 12 strikeouts without allowing a run to move to 2-0 on the year. He gave up three hits and only one walk in the 11-0 victory.

Campbell Heller (Lancaster Pa./Manheim Township) was named the CACC Rookie of the Week for the second straight week, leading the Wildcats to a 3-0 week. The freshman led the team with 15 goals and tied for the lead with 18 points. She also led the team with 19 draw controls and was second on the team with four caused turnovers. She scored five goals in each of the three games and finished with a week's high seven points against St. Thomas Aquinas by adding two assists. She had a week's high eight draws at Barton and two caused turnovers against St. Thomas Aquinas.

Katie Vindigni (Montvale, N.J./Pasack Hills) came off the bench in all three games but led the netminders in minutes while making 19 saves and giving up only 13 goals. She had a 7.66 goals against average and a .594 save percentage while going 1-0. She made 11 saves at Barton, giving up five goals while earning the win while playing the final three quarters. She had a week's high .800 save percentage while making four saves at Southern Wesleyan.

In eight games in Florida last week, Lexi Moore (Dover, Del./Smyrna) led the Wildcats with a .379 batting average, going 11-for-29 from atop the lineup. She also led the team with three stolen bases. She had a hit in all but one game last week, and ended the week by going 7-for-12 in the last three games. Moore went 2-for-4 with a run scored against Pittsburgh State, 2-for-4 against Winona State, and 3-for-4 with two stolen bases against Missouri-St. Louis.

Women's lacrosse's Taylor Lambeth was named to the Weekly Honor Roll as well, tying Heller for the team lead with 18 points, scoring eight goals with 10 assists.
