Winning Streak Stretched to Four with 20-2 Win at Caldwell

CALDWELL, N.J. - - The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team scored 20 or more goals for the third straight game, extending its winning streak to four with a 20-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Caldwell on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats (9-4, 4-1 CACC) used eight different goal scorers while 10 total student-athletes recorded a point in the win. The Wildcats forced the Cougars into only going 9-for-16 in clear attempts, leading to 15 total turnovers, resulting in a 35-7 shot advantage for the Wildcats.

Alea Javorowsky and Ella Royer each had a hat trick in the first quarter for the Wildcats, leading to a 9-0 lead after 15 minutes of action.

Five different Wildcats scored in the second quarter, starting with Eden Ward for the double-digit lead, 10-0, with 12:46 left in the quarter. Michaella Cook, Megan Molinelli, Kayla Dillon, and Tristan Holdsworth all scored for the Wildcats in the quarter, taking a 14-0 lead at the halftime break.

Caldwell got on the board with two goals in the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats answered with two goals at the end as well, settling on the 20-2 victory. The Wildcats won the third quarter, 4-0, and tied the fourth, 2-2.

Alea Javorowsky led the Wildcats with seven points, scoring four goals while adding three assists. Tristan Holdsworth had six points with a goal and five assists while Ella Royer scored five goals in the win. Michaella Cook scored four goals while Eden Ward and Anastasia Giannoulis scored two goals and added an assist each.

Allison Schiavone didn't allow a goal and made two saves in the first half. Ashleigh Lawry made two stops in the second half.

The Wildcats return home for a midweek contest on Wednesday, hosting Georgian Court at the WU Athletics Complex. The first draw is set for 4:00 p.m.
